Goodbye Volcano High, the narrative adventure game currently in development at KO_OP, has been pushed back to Summer 2023 on PS4, PS5 and PC. The game was originally slated to appear at some point this year, although since we’re almost in December and there’s no sign of a release date, a delay probably isn’t surprising at this point.
This isn’t the first time Goodbye Volcano High has been delayed, however. Back in August 2021, KO_OP announced that the title had been postponed due to a reboot of the narrative and challenges faced with remote working during the coronavirus pandemic.
Here’s the official word from KO_OP regarding this latest delay:
We care about this game and the story we’re telling so much and want to deliver something that is in line with what we’ve always envisioned. It’s what you deserve! We understand this delay might be disappointing, but we are confident this is the right decision and that it will be worth the wait.
In case you haven’t been keeping up with the game, Goodbye Volcano High is a story-driven, choice-based cinematic adventure that weaves a narrative about personal growth, acceptance, and the power of community. Oh, and the world’s about to end, so naturally, you ponder several things: do do you confess your feelings to your crush? Write the best song ever?
Goodbye Volcano High is slated for release on PS4, PS5 and PC in Summer 2023.
