Police In UK Arrest Teenager Reportedly Linked To Rockstar Games GTA 6 Hack

A 17-year-old has been arrested in Oxfordshire, UK on suspicion of hacking, and is believed to be linked to Rockstar Games hack involving Grand Theft Auto 6.

According to sources close to journalist Matthew Keys, the arrest was conducted alongside an investigation carried out by the FBI, and was made Thursday evening and the suspect is believed to be linked to the notorious hacking group Lapsus$.

Police expected to give more details on arrest of 17-year-old Rockstar Games hacker later today, possible statement coming from the FBI later this morning/afternoon.

Uber said earlier this week that it was in touch with the FBI and US Department of Justice regarding a recent security breach, which is believed to be the same individual behind the GTA 6 hack. The individual posted more than an hour of in-development footage of the game on the GTA Forums, claiming they had received the assets from an internal Slack channel.

Lapsus$ has been blamed for the attack on a number of major corporations including Nvidia, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Samsung and Vodaphone, and is reportedly based in South America.

Development of GTA 6 was officially announced by Rockstar Games earlier this year, although there’s no release date in sight and the game is still likely a few years off.
