Legendary Writer Michael Unsworth Leaves Rockstar Games After 16 Years

Michael Unsworth, one of the main juggernauts behind the narratives for Rockstar Games, is officially departing from the company after serving sixteen years. The confirmation of this was found and reported on his LinkedIn page.

At this time it has not been said where he will be going, but he will surely be missed. Micheal Unsworth has been with Rockstar Games since 2007, serving as a writer for many Rockstar titles. A description has been updated on his LinkedIn Page;

‘Mike is an accomplished writer who spent over 16 years working for Rockstar Games as a creative lead on some of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful video game franchises of all time.’

Michael Unsworth had started his role as a senior writer on Grand Theft Auto IV and was also credited as the Vice President of writing and additional dialogue for Grand Theft Auto V. He was most recently credited for writing Red Dead Redemption 2 alongside Dan Houser, who also left the studio in his positions as co-founder and vice president for the company.

Below is a list of games that Michael had worked on while at Rockstar Games:

  • Grand Theft Auto IV
  • Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad Of Gay Tony
  • Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned
  • Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
  • Midnight Club Los Angeles
  • Red Dead Redemption
  • Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
  • Max Payne 3
  • L.A. Noire
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Grand Theft Auto: Online
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Red Dead Online

Rockstar Games is hard at work on Grand Theft Auto VI, and despite hurdles along the way, an official reveal is expected soon. It is rumored that alongside Grand Theft Auto 6, Bully could also make a return. We will have to wait and see.
