Remedy closed out GamesCom Opening Night Live with a fresh look at the upcoming Alan Wake 2, the survival horror title and eagerly-awaited sequel to 2010’s cult hit. This latest trailer looks at Alan’s campaign, specifically the Dark Place and its depiction of a nightmarish New York City.
Alan Wake 2 takes place over ten years after the events of its predecessor, with the titular writer still trapped in the the Dark Place. Meanwhile, the picturesque town of Bright Falls, which served as the setting for the original Alan Wake 2, has been plagued by a series of ritualistic murders, prompting the arrival of the FBI to investigate.
It’s here that players are introduced to a brand new character, Saga Anderson, who attempts to get to the bottom of these grisly killings, only to find herself wrapped up in the malevolent presence that overwhelms Bright Falls.
Alan Wake 2 is scheduled for release on October 27, 2023 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
