The Darkness Could Be Receiving A Remaster From Nightdive Studios

Developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by 2K Games, The Darkness could be getting a remaster for modern consoles down the line, courtesy of Nightdive Studios which only just recently at Gamescom 2023 announced remasters for Turok 3 and Star Wars: Dark Forces. Spotted on Twitter, @thelastdesciple tweeted;

“I have been having an urge to play The Darkness again but i don’t feel like booting up or turning on my PS3. Can somebody please remaster and port this to PC sometime?”

In response to the tweet, the CEO of Nightdive Studios Stephen Kick had this to say

This is fantastic news for The Darkness fans. Nightdive Studios has been working since 2012 to bring back classic video games to modern consoles. Their most recent notable works include the System Shock remake and Quake II for modern consoles.

The Darkness is a first-person shooter originally released in 2007 in North America and Europe for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and is based on the mega-dark comic book series of the same name.

The Darkness features some of the best first-person shooting mechanics that still hold up to this day. In our review, we said that “overall, The Darkness is a good title; using gruesome violence and comic-book storytelling to bring life to the gameplay.”

Seeing the game on modern consoles and remastered to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second would be an absolute delight. Unfortunately, there is no official announcement or release date for the remaster at this time. In the meantime, you can check out some gameplay of the game mechanics below courtesy of GameRandomly;
