The Blue Blur is spin-dashing his way to multiple platforms later this year with Sonic Superstars, and according to Amazon Japan, the game will be launching just before Halloween on October 27. Given that most games now launch simultaneously worldwide, this date could apply to the west, too.
SEGA of course hasn’t announced a formal release date for Sonic Superstars yet, and all we know for certain is that it’s coming out at some point later this year. One thing we do know however is that the game will be appearing at GamesCom Opening Night Live later today, so we could get a date announced there.
Sonic Superstars promises a new take on the classic 2D platforming formula, with four playable characters including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, with support for drop in/out cooperative play. Beyond that, there’s still the classic Sonic shenanigans of zones, loops, and boss battles.
Sonic Superstars is in development for PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
